PCBA and PCB are not the same.

PCB (Printed Circuit Board)

A printed circuit board (PCB) is a foundational component in electronic devices, providing mechanical support and electrical connections for electronic components.

Explanation of PCB:
Printed circuit board; abbreviation: PCB; Chinese: Printed circuit board

(1) On an insulating substrate, conductive patterns—formed by printed wires, printed components, or a combination of both—created according to a predetermined design are referred to as printed circuits.
(2) On an insulating substrate, conductive patterns that provide electrical connections between components and devices are referred to as printed wiring.
(3) The finished board with printed circuits or printed wiring is called a printed circuit board or printed wiring board, also known as a printed board.

Role of PCB:
A PCB serves as an assembly base for connecting first-level components and other electronic circuit parts, integrating them into a specific functional module or product.

Thus, the PCB plays the role of interconnecting all functions within an electronic product. Consequently, when functional failures occur in electronic products, the PCB is often the first suspect. Due to the relatively complex processing technology involved, production control for PCBs is particularly strict and critical.

Classification of PCBs
PCBs vary in materials, layers, and manufacturing processes to suit different electronic products and their specific requirements. As a result, there are many classification methods. Below are some common distinctions to briefly introduce PCB categories and their manufacturing processes.

By Layer Count:
a. Single-sided board
b. Double-sided board
c. Multi-layer board

By Flexibility:
a. Rigid board
b. Flexible board
c. Rigid-flex board

By Product Structure:
a. Standard multi-layer board
b. HDI board
c. Mechanically drilled blind/buried via board

By Application:
a. Gold finger card boards
b. Communication system boards (system boards, backplanes, system HDI boards)
c. IC substrates
d. High-frequency/high-speed boards
e. Other consumer electronic products (e.g., mobile phone boards, computer motherboards, power supply boards, metal-core boards, etc.)
