Potentiometers can also be used for impedance matching in circuits, helping to ensure that the electrical impedance between different components is properly matched for optimal signal transfer.

There are different types of potentiometers available for use in PCBs, including rotary potentiometers, linear potentiometers, and multi - turn potentiometers. Rotary potentiometers are the most common and are suitable for applications where a circular rotation is used for adjustment, such as volume control knobs. Linear potentiometers, on the other hand, are used when a linear movement of the wiper is required, for example, in some slider - based control interfaces.
